Share This - adding social networking buttons

Have you noticed the buttons at the end of my posts?

They are easy to add with this cool utility, Share This.

Decide the kind of buttons you'd like to add, then click  the green button, Get the Code.

Choose your platform (Blogger), then click Step 2.

Choose the style of button you'd like, click Step 3.

Choose the buttons you want to include, then click the green 'Finish: Get the Code" button.

You'll see this pop-up window, then decide whether or not to register. (There are benefits to registering, or you can click that blue "No thanks, just give me the code" link at the top.)

Decide how you want your buttons to function. They are explained under each of the choices, then click the green "Go" button.

If you're blocking pop-ups, you may need to click the little box that's x-ed out. If you click on the Blogger link, it'll take you where you need to go and you won't have to tweak your pop-up settings.

You may be directed to sign in to your blog. This is safe - "Share This" is putting your html code in your blog (saving you from having to copy code, add a gadget, etc).

Click the blue "Add Widget" button, and you'll be redirected to your Layout page.

It will show up at the top of a sidebar, but it magically inserts the code at the end of your post.

Next, remove the old buttons. Under Blog Posts, click Edit.

Uncheck the "Show Share Buttons" and click the orange Save button.

Enjoy your fancy schmancy new share buttons!

You can go to Share This and modify your buttons anytime, just be sure you only have one "Share This" gadget in your layout.

On a personal note, I'm changing to a monthly posting schedule (first Tuesday). I'll be traveling the next couple of weeks and will have a lot of catching up to do.

My next post will be the first Tuesday in April, so please let me know if you have any questions or ideas for future posts!

  4. I didn't get any banana bread, but if it was as good as Susan's lessons on blogger, I'm sure it was fantastic. I'll have to re-read this post and try it out. I'm not sure what all those share buttons mean, but I'll find out.
