If people enjoy your blog, they'll probably have some of the same interests and want to know some of the blogs you follow and some of the sites you like.
Let's look at Blog List
Go to Layout and click Add a Gadget.
Scroll down and click Blog List
You can change the title to whatever you want. Mine is called My Blog Buddies.
Choose any other options you'd like, then click Add to list
You can quickly add a group by clicking Blogs I'm Following (those you've checked to follow when you visit other blogs) or by importing your subscriptions. Or you can selectively enter addresses one at a time, then click Add. You can have as many as you want!
TIP: Instead of manually typing each one, remember you can pull up their site, highlight the URL (address line), Copy then come back here and Paste. That will save you a bunch of typing (and subsequent typos).
When you finish your list, be sure to click the orange Save button!
Remember that new gadgets are placed at the top of your sidebar, so click and drag it to the location of your choice. Be sure to scroll back up to the top and click the orange Save Arrangement button!
Now for the Link List - it's the exact same process. This is a good place to list favorite business websites, like a local bakery or your church or school. Any site you'd like to share with your readers can go here. You will enter the URL and then give it a title, something like:
My Brother-in-Law's photography site
www.jeraldwinter.com
(See the gadget on my sidebar, "My Favorite Free Blog Stuffs" - That's a Link List!)
Just remember that after you add and place a gadget, you HAVE to scroll back up to the top and click the orange Save Arrangement button!
Think of some fun friends and things to share, and add them to your sidebar!
I appreciate your comments and feedback - please leave yours below!
Thanks for the great info! I will add links to my blog AFTER Christmas. Two questions (perhaps to use as future post ideas...) a lot of blogs I see have cool headers or icons- how does one get such things? Also, how do you create a link to a specific post on your blog?
ReplyDeleteVery good questions, and yes... IN TIME young grasshopper, in time...
ReplyDelete(But not too much time -- before the end of the year!)
